Rugby Cranes seek recovery in Victoria Cup

Rugby Cranes celebrate a try against Zimbabwe in 2017 at Legends

Uganda Rugby Cranes battle Zimbabwe Sables this Saturday in the Victoria Cup at the Legends Rugby grounds, Lugogo.

Rugby Cranes, sponsored by Nile Special, seek recovery from the Elgon Cup wounds where they lost to Kenya 05-16 in the return leg to overturn a first leg 13-16 loss in Kisumu.

Uganda failed to regain the Elgon Cup title they last won in 2012. However, Coach Robert Seguya hopes that his charges can rewrite the script this weekend against Zimbabwe.

“We have been going through good preparations ever since the Elgon Cup game. We have bad memories from Elgon Cup but the boys know that there is a big job at hand. We have put everything together to ensure that we have the best on Saturday,” noted Seguya during the team naming on Wednesday.

Uganda lost to Zimbabwe 18-38 during the previous meeting in the 2018 Gold Cup at Kyadondo but Uganda had earned a 38-12 victory earlier in 2017 at Legends rugby grounds during the Gold Cup.

Seguya made four changes to his team with Betway Kobs pair of Ian Munyani and Brian Asaba out just as Saul Kivumbi and Joseph Kagimu.

Faragi Odugo, Eric Mulamula, Ivan Kabagambe and Kelvin Balagadde are the replacements. Charles Uhuru will be the vice captain of the day replacing injured Asaba.
