Micheal Birungi of Express (R) tries to control the ball against Bright Stars in Stanbic Uganda Cup semi final

Newly promoted Kyetume FC have acquired former KCCA FC midfielders Michael Birungi and Isaac Kirabira. Birungi, who left KCCA in 2015, signed a two-year deal at Kyetume from the Betway-sponsored Express he joined in the 2017/18 season.

Birungi guided the six-time Ugandan champions to the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinals and was part of the 2019 COSAFA Cup team in South Africa recently.

Meanwhile, Kirabira’s contract at the reigning Cecafa champions was not renewed after expiry and joins the Mukono-based side as free transfer on a reported one-year deal.

The former SC Villa Captain, who joined KCCA in 2016, re-unites Vincent Kayizzi and striker Robert Ssentongo formerly at KCCA.

He won the league and Uganda Cup at the Lugogo side, having been the last captain to have lift a trophy at SC Villa –the 2015/16 Uganda Cup. Kyetume has also signed Sam Ssenkomi, Joel Mutakubwa, Baker Buyala and Julius Ntambi.
