Proline vs Vipers SC, Lugogo
Vipers SC have named defender Halid Lwaliwa as the new club captain. The center back, who signed a three-year contract extension at Vipers in August last year til 2021, will replace midfielder Tadeo Lwanga, who is finalizing his move to Egypt’s Pyramids FC after the expiry of his contract at the Kitende based-side.
Lwanga who put up an exciting performance at the recently concluded 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt will join his former coach at the Cranes Sebastien Desabre and compatriot Abdul Lumala, who already joined the Egyptian moneybags.
“It’s an honor to lead this club and I want to achieve in my new role. We are ready for the new season and everyone wants to perform to his best to win trophies,” noted Lwaliwa, who starts his captaincy against newly promoted side Proline this Wednesday evening at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo in the opening round of the 2019 Pilsner Super 8 tournament.
Proline ejected the Venoms at the semi finals of last season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup en route to clinching the title with win over Bright Stars at the final and thus, the Venoms under new head coach Edward Golola, will likely seek revenge.
Shafik Bisaso, the Proline manager expects a ‘good test’ from Vipers SC as they prepare for forthcoming CAF Confederations Cup engagements.

He said that there will be no complacency from last season’s Cinderella performance as they battle Vipers this evening. “We are coming to play at no pressure,” said Bisaso.
Proline, who have been camped at FUFA technical center, Njeru since last Friday, had a stellar 2018/19 season –winning the Stanbic Uganda Cup, FUFA Big league and earning promotion back to the Premier league.
Vipers SC will have no Livingstone Mulondo, Dan Birikwalira, Geoffrey Wasswa who are injured while Dan Sserunkuma, new signings; Allan Kayiwa and Paul Willa are with the CHAN Cranes team.
