Mbarara City 2-0 URA

URA FC fell to Mbarara City in the Pilsner Super 8 tournament tie played on Friday at the Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara. Brian Ahebwa and Paul Mucurezi in the 68th and 92nd minute gave Brian Ssenyondo a winning start to the job after replacing Livingstone Mbabazi as Ankole lions Head Coach. Sam Ssimbwa, the Tax Collectors’ head coach was left ruing his side’s wasted chances and what he called lapses in officiating as his side could not perform any better in the tournament compared to last season. URA was ejected at the same stage in the inaugural edition of the competition last year by SC Villa.

Mucureezi celebrates his goal recently

“We were denied a genuine penalty and that could have changed the game. But this time around, Mbarara had better chances created yet we missed six players who are starters. We shall play the next two classification games to sharpen us ahead of the new season kickoff. By the time we, start 2019/20 campaign, such teams will not get a point off us,” noted Ssimbwa. URA now face Proline who lost to Vipers SC 1-0 in the first classification match while Mbarara City face Vipers SC at the semi finals. Denis Mwemezi scored the only goal for Vipers on his debut. Onduparaka host Tooro United this Sunday while holders KCA FC travel to newly promoted Wakiso Giants on Tuesday.
