The 8th edition of Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) continues this weekend with the Eastern and North Eastern region qualifiers championship that commenced on Friday till Sunday in Soroti.
So far, Kampala and Buganda region are done with their regional qualifiers.
Kawempe Muslim SS won both Boys and Girls titles in Kampala while Rays of Grace Junior academy and Kiyindu SS won the Boys and Girls categories respectively in Buganda region.
Each of the eight FUFA regions selects a squad from the teams that take part in the regional championship to represent them at the finals.
After the Soroti championship, Northern and West Nile regions will hold their regional qualifiers next on August 16-18 in Lira.
Kitara and Western region will hold their qualifiers on August 28-30 in Masindi before the national quarter and semi finals are played in Kampala on September 4-6.
The finals will be held in Kampala on September 7. The national winners of this 8th edition have Shs7m at the stake while the runners up will take Shs5m.
The tournament exclusive sponsors Airtel-Uganda also give out football equipment to five schools in each region as part of this year’s championship.
