CAF Champions league
Preliminary round, First leg
Saturday
African Stars vs KCCA, Windhoek
KCCA FC Manager Mike Mutebi will be seeking First leg advantage when his side takes on African Stars of Namibia this Saturday at the Sam Nujoma stadium, Windhoek in the First leg of the CAF Champions league, Preliminary round.
The reigning Uganda premier league champions are blessed to play at an artificial turf like their Lugogo home ground.
“We have always gone for victory either at home or away from home. We have of recent learnt to rub shoulders with the continental giants and you cannot expect us to defend. We are going to attack although but also watch our defending. We played well against Wakiso Giants especially in the midfield but we lacked efficiency upfront,” noted Mutebi, whose side comes off a 2-0 away win at Wakiso Giants in the Pilsner Super 8 tournament courtesy of Allan Okello and Sadat Anaku goals.
KCCA named 18 players and 13 officials in a 34-man contingent led by FUFA Head of marketing Rogers Byamukama. Three players; Nicholas Kasozi, the duo of Sadat Anaku and Samuel Kato that was recently promoted from the club’s Junior side will be making their debut at the continent.
KCCA endured a heart breaking ejection from the CAF Confederation Cup in January this year -the last time they played at the continent. Despite winning the Return leg 2-0 against Congo’s AS Otoho D’Oyo at the StarTimes Stadium astro turf, KCCA bowed out 3-2 on aggregate.

Patrick Henry Kaddu headed home the opener 15 minutes from full time and Allan Okello scored a late penalty but it was too late for the Ugandan ambassadors.
KCCA who bowed out at the Group stage the last time playing in the CAF Champions league last year, will host African Stars on Friday, August 23 for the return leg.
