After Mbale circuit flopping last weekend, Jinja Hippos will host the second last circuit of the Roke Telkom Rugby Sevens (7s) Series this Saturday at Dam Waters rugby grounds.
The circuit was originally slated for next Saturday, August 17 but a change in the Uganda-Zambia Victoria Cup fixture saw it brought forward.
Pirates beat Hippos in the final to win the circuit last year before going on to win the series. Jinja Hippos Coach Saidi Atibu wants to see his side replicate last year’s performance at their own circuit.
Hippos was one of the five teams that played ‘exhibition games’ in Mbale after the circuit flopped due to a misunderstanding between the hosts club and Uganda Rugby Union over money.
Betway Power will be seeking to extend lead and put one hand on the 7s title while holders Black Pirates seek to close the gap.
Betway Kobs still lead the table with 110 points, three points above second placed Stanbic bank Pirates at 107. Betway Kobs and Stanbic bank Pirates have met in all the finals –Betway Kobs winning thrice while Stanbic bank Pirates has won twice
