Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa in Kigo will host the Uganda Golf Open Championship for the first time as the tournament marks its 77thedition.
A good number of local and foreign golfers are expected to take part in the tournament that was launched this week at the host venue.
One of the 2019-2020 Kenya Safari Series Tour championship will be played at the same event from 10th-14th September 2019.
This will double as the tournament pros engagement. The pros showpiece (Safari Tour) will also double as the qualifier for the European tour event and the 2020 Magical Kenya Open.
This will be the premier qualifying tournament of the European Tour in East Africa. Only 200 golfers will be accommodated in all categories including the juniors, Ladies and Amateurs.
Pros are playing for cash prize of $50,000 to be shared among themselves according to performance. Meanwhile, Uganda will also host two more legs of the Safari Tour; one from 30th – 2ndNovember 2019 at Entebbe Golf Club during the Entebbe Open.
The Kitante Open slated for 12th–15th February 2020 at Uganda Golf Club will also double as one of the legs of the tour. The Safari Tour is organized by the Kenya Open Golf Limited.
The sponsors of this year’s Uganda Open are; Nile Breweries -Castle Lite (anchor sponsors), Absa, Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), Serena Hotels, Britam, Liquid Telecom, Isuzu, NTV, Pepsi and Time Cop Security.
