Dan Sserunkuma netted a brace two days after extending his contract till 2021 as Vipers SC beat Maroons FC 3-1 in a friendly at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende on Wednesday.

Abraham Ndugwa scored the other goal as the three-time champions concluded their preseason friendly games.

Sserunkuma joined the Venoms from Express in February 2016 and went ahead to score 11 goals in the 2017/18 Uganda premier league second round, having earlier scored six for the Red Eagles in the first round.

The striker featured for Kenyan sides City Stars, Bandari and Gor Mahia where he won two golden boosts between 2012 and 2014. He also played for Tanzania’s Simba and Morocco championship (Botola League) side Ittihad Riadi Tanger before returning to Express in September 2018.

“I am proud and looking forward to the coming season now. I am working hard to have an impact here again and I would like to thank management and the coaching staff for the support,” Sserunkuma noted.

Vipers head coach Edward Golola believes that Sserunkuma knows what it takes to be one of the senior players in the team.

“He is a goal machine and I believe he can still give us goals this season. We are delighted he has committed his future to the club,” he noted.

Meanwhile, there are reports that midfielder Tom Masiko will be loaned out to Police FC after failure to convince since joining from KCCA in 2017 on a three-year deal yet the club also signed a number of promising midfielders.
