Despite ill preparations and minimal slots for the All Africa Games in Rabat-Morocco, the national boxing team (Bombers) has continued to impress.
After Hellen Baleke securing the first medal for Uganda without breaking sweat due to absence of opponent at the quarter finals, Isaac Masembe also entered into the medal bracket on Monday following a unanimous decision (5-0) win over Semedo Wilson Carlos from Cape Verde in the feather weight category.
The quarter final win sealed Masembe’s berth at the semi finals after winning in similar style at the preliminary round. He is assured of bronze medal at least. Uganda boxing federation (UBF) president Moses Muhangi was happy with the team’s performance given the poor preparations.
Three other Ugandan boxers of the 8-man team were beaten including Captain Shadir Musa, Joshua Tukamuhebwa and Solomon Geko.
