Holders City Oilers finish regular season behind UCU Canons

Defending champions City Oilers claimed a hard fought 81-63 win at KCCA in a Tusker Lite national basketball league on Sunday at the YMCA courts, Wandegeya. Tony Drilleba and Ladry Ndikumana had 18 points for Oilers while Jimmy Enabu had 12.

KCCA’s Richard Ongom had 14 points while Antonio Mutumba and Marc Mathe returned 12 and 11 points respectively. Mutumba and Francis Mbuyi added 12 and 10 rebounds respectively.

The win was Oilers’ 18th of the campaign in 21 games and confirmed their second place finish of the regular season behind UCU Canons. The six-time straight Champions return to court this Wednesday for their last regular season game against rejuvenated JKL Dolphins.

Meanwhile, relegated women side YMCA Lady Hamsters gave away two walkovers over the weekend against KCCA Leopards (Saturday) and A1 Challenge (Sunday).
