The 2018 Airtel Rising Stars Champions Kampala will face Eastern Region in the finals on Saturday at MUBS, Nakawa as they seek their 5th accolade of the competition since inception in 2011.

Kampala defeated Buganda 1-0 at the semi finals, thanks to Nsereko Abdul’s strike in what was a repeat of last year’s final.

Northern region were disqualified after it was found that only 8 players of their team were eligible to feature in their semi final against Eastern region.

Kitara that replaced them lost 3-1 to Eastern region, thanks to Wandawa Bashir hat trick. Bashir is jointly top the scorer with Kampala’s Jeremiah Jabela. In the Girls category, Eastern battle defending champions Kitara in the final after both finals storming the finals after spot kicks.

Eastern beat Western 8-7 in the semi final after a 2-all draw while Kitara beat Buganda 5-4 in penalties after a 1-all draw. The 2019 national ARS champions win among others cash prize of Shs7m whilst the runners up win Shs5m.

There are also prizes for individual winners courtesy of the tournament exclusive sponsors Airtel-Uganda. Kampala Region are the Boys national defending champions whereas Kitara won the Girls category last year.
