Express FC will seek their first win of the 2019/20 campaign against Onduparaka in a new kit this Saturday at the Betway Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
This is the biggest fixture on match day three and will be live on Sanyuka TV. The new kit consignment arrived in the country on Wednesday and was presented to the club authorities led by CEO Hamza Junju on Thursday by Betway-Uganda Country manager Adelle Agaba.
The kit is part of Betway Uganda’s sponsorship to the six-time champions. This Saturday, Express will don a new red kit with white shoulders and white strips running down from the neck, red shorts and red socking.
The away kit is white while the alternative (third kit) is black with similar red and white designs respectively. According to sources, the kit delayed en route to Uganda from England and the club had to use old kits from last season for the opening two games.
Express lost 1-0 to BUL FC in the season opener before drawing at home against Bright Stars on Tuesday. New signing Frank Kalanda knows the load that is onto him to lead Express FC’s goals.
“Everyone is asking me goals. It is a challenge but I am happy people believe I can offer something. I am really trying hard to meet the fans’ expectations,” he said. The striker joined the Red Eagles on a two-year deal from AS Kigali FC.
Kalanda played for in 2012-13 to emerge second top scorer with 17 goals in 26 games and his scoring form earned him a place at the Uganda Cranes where he scored a brace in a 4-1 aggregate win over Tanzania in 2013.
Express are also seeking their first victory against the Caterpillars, who are also looking for their first victory of the season.
The West Nile side won their season opener by forfeiture after Police FC failed to turn up for the fixture in Luzira Prison grounds. Onduparaka beat Express 2-0 in the corresponding fixture last season with Gadaffi Gadinho and Ezra Bida scoring the goals.
It will be the seventh meeting between the two sides with Onduparaka winning thrice and drawing as much in the last six clashes.
