Pepsi University Football League

Quarter Final, first leg
Wednesday, 3pm
Bugema vs Kyambogo, Bugema

Kyambogo University travels to Bugema University this Wednesday afternoon for their quarter final first leg of the 2019 Pepsi University Football League.

The defending champions are confident that they will again ride over Bugema University as the brings a repeat of last year’s semi-final between the two sides which Kyambogo University won 3-0 on aggregate.

Kyambogo won 1-0 at home before winning 2-0 on road in Bugema. Kyambogo assistant coach Lobbo Christopher is confident his side will emerge victorious

“As Kyambogo we are well prepared and full of confidence ahead of the game. Bugema is a team that we played and beat home and away last season and I am confident that this time round we shall also do it again,” he said.

Lobbo noted that although many of last year’s squad that won the title unbeaten left, the team to join the Premier League and Big League, he is sure the new recruits will do well.

“Yes we lost a number of players among them our inspirational captain Ashaba Racmac who left for SC Villa but that is the nature of university football. Every year players are supposed to be changing. But our new recruits are even better than those that left so I am sure that we shall beat Bugema,” Lobbo added.

However, Bugema University coach Nyanzi Medhi warned his counterpart not to expect the same team that they they found last year.

“Our team is even better this year than last year. They have the experience from last season and they have qualified from the group stage against all odds beating giants along the way. So they are highly motivated and eager to avenge last year’s loss to Kyambogo,” Nyanzi said.

“Our target this year is to make it to the finals and any team that comes in front of us will have it hard. Kyambogo are a good team, they are the defending champions but I have been closely following them and even watched some of their friendlies. I know we can beat them,” Nyanzi added.

The quarter final, first legs come to an end on Friday when Busitema University host Uganda Christian University.
