Uganda Christian University (UCU) took a huge stride towards the semi final of this year’s Pepsi University football league after their emphatic 5-1 win away at Busitema University in the quarter final, first leg last Friday.
Kizito Kaye and Ade Brian grabbed a brace each while Gerald Mayombwe added the other as UCU set one foot into the last four while Isaac Ebwora got Busitema consolation. UCU have been knocked out of the competition at this stage for the last four seasons and 5-1 first leg advantage could end their quarter final jinx.
Earlier on last Wednesday Bugema University missed a penalty but still stunned defending champions Kyambogo with a 2-0 home win courtesy of Lucky Kasajja brace.
The league resumes this Wednesday with Uganda Martyrs hosting MUBS after the two sides settled for a barren stalemate in the first leg in Nakawa.
On Friday, YMCA that lost to St Lawrence 2-0 in the first leg will be at home in Buwambo for the return leg. The final is set for November 2 at Namboole stadium.
