The national U20 side (Hippos) held the Uganda Cranes CHAN team to a barren stalemate on Tuesday at the FUFA technical center, Njeru in their last trial match ahead of the 2019 CECAFA U20 tournament to be hosted in Gulu and FUFA Technical Centre Njeru.
The team had light drills on Wednesday morning in Njeru in preparation for their trip to Gulu on Thursday morning.
Optimistic head coach Morley Byekwaso on Wednesday confirmed is final 20-man squad for the 11-nation tournament where Uganda is in Group A with Eritrea, Djibouti and Burundi.
“We are ready for the tournament. We have trained well and now get to the natural grass after spending the previous time training on artificial turf. We have selected the best that we think will deliver,” noted Byekwaso.
Uganda’s opening match comes Saturday at Pece Stadium and will be the second game of the day to be played at 4pm.

The team’s first game will see Eritrea take on Djibouti before the official opening match involving the hosts. Uganda are the last to have won the championship that has been revived this year since Eritrea hosted it in 2010.
