The 2019 Tusker Lite National basketball league playoffs get underway this Friday after being launched on Thursday at the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) in Lugogo. Friday’s games will be at Lugogo Arena while Saturday action will be at the YMCA courts, Wandegeya.

The games will run up to mid November with other games. The playoffs also got new partners; Old Mutual Financial Services (UAP) and NEXT Media Services. UAP have come on board with a Sh15m from which Shs100,000 will go to a player of the match in every game.

“We have interest in basketball because we care much about the youth,” UAP’s Simon Mwebaze noted on Thursday. Tusker Lite’s Eliakim Atuhaire is happy with their partnership with FUBA and is confident that the playoffs will live to the billing.

Tusker Lite signed a three-year deal with FUBA earlier this year. Meanwhile, the July, August and September players and coaches (both men and women) of the month will be awarded on Friday night.

City Oilers are men league champions after clinching their straight sixth title last season while women champions JKL Lady Dolphins clinched their maiden title.
