Captain Juliet Nalukenge scored a double hat trick as Uganda U17 female football side obliterated hosts Mauritius in their 2019 COSAFA U17 tournament on Sunday. Uganda, who are participating as guests, showed their intent with an early 1st minute goal courtesy of Kunihira Margaret.

Nalukenge doubled the lead after four minutes with her first of the day before Stella Musibika made it 3-0. Fauzia Najjemba, who this week signed for Kampala Queens, made it 4-0 in the 28th minute. Nalukenga scored her second on the day the 35th minute to give Uganda a 5-0 half time lead.

On return, the Kawempe Muslim striker completed her first hat trick with the 6th on the day for Uganda in the 49th minute before the Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) product made it 7-0 in the 51st minute.

Uganda’s goal keeper Daphine Nyayenga was also on the score sheet –scoring a penalty in the 54th minute to become the first goal keeper to score at the tournament.

Nalukenge scored her fifth in the 66th minute before Najemba completed her brace in a space of two minutes.

Nalukenge, who was named player of the match, scored her sixth to take her goal tally to seven in the tournament in two games –having scored from the spot in the 1-1 draw against Zambia in the opener on Friday.

Mauritius, who had only two shots against Uganda in the 14th minute (off target) and 74th minute (on target),  thumped Comoros 5-1 in their opener on Friday. Uganda will play Comoros on Tuesday as Zambia takes on Mauritius in the last group A fixtures.
