Skipper and former Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) tournament participant Juliet Nalukenge netted seven times as Uganda beat Comoros 20-0 in the COSAFA U17 tournament on Tuesday at the Anjalay stadium in Mauritius.
Uganda scored 14 goals in the opening half with Margaret Kunihira and Nalukenge getting on the score sheet four and five times respectively.
In a one-sided game that rained goals, Kinuhira scored five goals in the 2nd, 3rd, 22nd, 25th and 64th minutes respectively. Nalukenge, who netted six against Mauritius two days before, was at it again as she came out of the game with seven goals in the 10th, 19th, 26th, 31st, 35th, 57th and 92nd minute to take her tally to 14 goals as the leading top scorer having scored in each of the three group games.

Shakirah Nyinagahirwa also grabbed her first hat trick at the tournament while Fauzia Najjemba netted four times to take her tally six. Prior to the match, head coach Ayub Khalifa revealed desire to hit Comoros for dead in order to lead the group and avoid fierce South Africa at the semi finals.
“It is good we got the 15-goal victory goals we wanted has been achieved for us to lead the group. I am happy with the performance but we still have a lot to do in a bid to lift the title,” noted Khalifa, who made only one change in the starting XI that beat Mauritius 11-0 with Samali Nakachwa taking Zaitun Namaganda’s place.

Uganda progressed from the group as leaders with 7 points, having conceded only one goal –against Zambia in the opening 1-1 draw.
Zambia, who also conceded one goal, finished second with similar points, only eight goals shy of Uganda. Uganda is to face either Madagascar or Botswana (who play on Wednesday) at the semi finals while Zambia takes on South Africa.
Uganda are participating in the tournament initiated this year as guests.
