Pepsi University Football League
Semi-Final, second leg
Friday, 3pm
Uganda Martyrs vs St. Lawrence, Nkozi (Agg: 1-1)
Former champions Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) and last season’s third place finishers St. Lawrence University (SLAU) meet for the fourth time this season as they clash in their Pepsi University Football League semi-final, second leg this Friday at Nkozi.
The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw just as the previous encounters between the two sides. The aggregate winner faces Uganda Christian University (UCU) in the final on November 3 at Namboole after the Mukono side ejected Bugema University in penalties to storm their first ever final of the competition.
“It is indeed interesting that all the games we have played have ended in draws. This time round, there is a final at stake and we are going to do all that it takes to qualify in normal time,” Uganda Martyrs Sports Tutor Ssali Tony said. “We would rather not go into penalties but if we do, we shall be prepared,” he added.

This is SLAU’s second consecutive semi-final appearance and Coach Nnono Davis is keen to avoid falling out at this stage again.
“Last season, we were knocked out at the semi-final stage by Kampala University and we are determined to avoid that this season,” Nnono said. “We believe we have all that it takes to win the game and are going to give it our very best effort. This time we shall have a winner which winner shall be St. Lawrence,” Nnono added.
Uganda Martyrs will be without midfielders Othieno Raymond and Nakibinge John Ben while St. Lawrence will be without midfielder Kiryowa George.
