Vipers SC skipper Halid Lwaliwa believes win away at Busoga United was ‘crucial’ and his side deserved it. The unbeaten Vipers SC lived it late to defeat the Jinja side 1-0 away at the Mighty Arena in Jinja on Saturday.

Substitute Bobosi Byaruhanga scored in the second minute of the added three to hand the three-time champions their first ever away win at Busoga United in the premier league.

“It was an amazing win. We worked hard and we deserved it. The performance was good and the chances we created were very good though we needed more sharpness in front. Busoga United goalkeeper made some top saves. We kept going, showed great mentality and deservedly got the three points,” the center back told club website.

Vipers had never beaten Busoga United away since they joined the Uganda Premier League during the 2016/17 season on three attempts. “We know when we come here (the Mighty Arena) it’s not easy and they put on good performances always but they have good players, and on their day they can beat anybody,” added the skipper.

The Venoms that lead the log with 27 points in 11 games return to action this Tuesday at home against Wakiso Giants while 5th placed Busoga United travel to Bombo to play 8th placed Kyetume.
