The National Women football team (Crested Cranes) started their residential camp on Wednesday at the FUFA Technical center, Njeru after five days of non-residential drills.
Head Coach Faridah Bulega chopped the squad to 27 from the earlier 35 summoned as the team intensifies preparations for the forthcoming CECAFA Women Challenge Cup due November 14-23 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Bulega also named the team’s assistant captains with Bridget Nabisalu and Fazila Okwaput as the first and second assistants respectively to already named captain Ruth Aturo. The team is training twice a day.
“I am happy with the input from the players after these five days of training. The residential camp will give the technical team and players another opportunity to improve especially on fitness levels. We are glad that the league started –which gives every player match-fitness,” noted Bulega, who is assisted by Edward Kaziba, Ayub Khalifan, and Olive Mbekeka.
