Sharon Adong’s exit at SC Villa came at the back of team’s surprise remarkable start to the 2019/20 StarTimes Uganda premier league season.
The team that struggled in the preseason with no confirmed squad up the opening day and loss of Villa Park training ground, one would think that there was organization in administration but the changes just can’t stop coming.
With a new technical team led by head coach Edward Kaziba, the 16-time record Uganda champions appointed new Chief Executive officer (CEO) Shawn Mubiru mid last month to replace David Serebe who had worked in the interim capacity for over a year.
In Hollywood fashion, the Jogoos waved the red flag to Adong as the club Public relations officer (PRO) on her birthday last Friday in what can only be termed as a really unfortunate coincidence.
“We extend our gratitude to the outgoing PRO, Ms Adong Sarah Sharon. Thank you for your dedicated and passionate service at Villa Park. You have our heartfelt thanks! All the best for the future,” read the massage at the club’s official Facebook page.
Villa that is under interim leadership of William Nkemba, in a statement released on Friday, announced Bernard Olupot as the new PRO with immediate effect.
“Bernard Ewalu Elupot is a digital, communication and PR practitioner with a wealth of experience spanning over a decade, working with top brands. His passion, knowledge and experience in communication both online and offline will bring much needed value to the club as we re-establish SC Villa as the greatest club in Uganda’s history. We welcome Bernard to the team and look forward to a fruitful partnership,” read the club statement.
Being fired on her birthday where everyone all over the social media was sending her happy birth day wishes was so painful, but not as much as being fired with ten-month arrears.
A club she dedicated her hands to, running all over media houses to make it a big brand in time of turmoil, encouraging fans, Adong believes she had been treated a ‘mafia’ way.

In discontentment, the Iron Lady as she refers to herself, replied to the club’s appreciation massage on Facebook. “You will appreciate me in the grave, event without paying my ten-month salary arrears, you have the guts to post this here? Stop fooling the public and tell them the truth. No one can work for all these months without pay. Am so disappointed with the management of SC Villa, believe me God will punish all of you and you will vomit my money even in the grave, you will follow me with it. Give me what belongs to me. Why don’t you give people reasons for this, than appreciating yet you have failed to pay me! I have covered enough trash of you leaders, it’s just the beginning,” Sharon ranted in the reactive post.
Adong was named the club PRO in July last year under Eng. Ben Misagga’s reign as club president with a contract reportedly running up to 2022 with Shs10m monthly payment.
She was first appointed in June as the secretary and spokesperson for the five-member committee to take charge of the club’s election which were supposed to be held in August in Masaka.
The elections were not held as Fufa intervened to stop the process as incumbent Misagga sought another term of office having taken over club leadership in 2014.
