Vipers boosted by duo return as Maroons miss Mukwala

StarTimes Uganda premier league

Maroons vs Vipers SC, Luzira (4pm -Live)

Police vs Proline, Lugogo (4:30pm)

In-form Steven Mukwala will have no chance of adding to his tally as Maroons host Vipers SC this afternoon on at Luzira Prisons grounds in a StarTimes Uganda premier league game.

The striker, currently leading the scorers’ chat with 10 goals, is on loan from the Venoms and thus sits out the fixture against his mother club.

Both sides will be aiming to finish the first round of the season on high note but the hosts will have to dig deep to a positive result as they have not tasted victory in the previous 12 games between the two sides.

Vipers has won 8 and 4 matches have ended in stalemates. The visitors welcome back skipper Halid Lwaliwa and firing striker Fahad Bayo, who missed the previous two games due to Uganda National team duties.

Bayo, who scored the second as Uganda beat Malawi 2-0 at Namboole last weekend in the Afcon 2021  qualifiers, has so far scored 8 league goals –joint in second position with Police FC’s Ben Ocen.

The Venoms lost their unbeaten run during their previous game 1-0 to KCCA FC last weekend at Lugogo before Maroons were humbled 3-2 by Proline on Tuesday at the same venue.

Golola’s side will once again remain without, Bobosi Byaruhanga and Karim Watambala as they are yet to complete their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations at St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School while Allan Kayiwa faces late fitness test.

Maroons FC coach Bamweyana Douglas and Vipers SC forward Fahad Bayo scooped the Pilsner Lager Premier league Coach and Player of the Month Awards for September in the current season.
