Uganda Cranes head coach Jonathan McKinstry named a 30-man squad on Tuesday ahead of the forthcoming 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
The squad comprises of only locally based players and most notably U-17 goalkeeper Jack Komakech, who was part of the Cubs team in the 2019 U-17 AFCON tournament held in Tanzania.
The StarTimes Uganda premier league leading scorer Steven Dese Mukwala (10) also made the squad having put up splendid performance in the 12 league games he has played for Maroons (on loan from Vioers SC) out of the 13 first round fixtures.
Police’s Ben Ocen who has scored nine goals and Proline’s Edrisa Lubega Torres are other notable inclusions.
KCCA’s lanky center back Samuel Kato has been summoned despite his eligibility to play for either Uganda or Rwanda.
The team is expected to start non residential training this Wednesday at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.
Uganda, who are the 14-time record winners are pitted in Group A alongside Burundi, Ethiopia and Eritrea.

The tournament will be hosted from December 8-19 in Uganda at yet to be confirmed venues.
