Airtel Uganda has renewed its commitment to Buganda Kingdom initiatives by renewing their ongoing partnership and sponsorship of the Kabaka Birthday Run, The Birthday Dinner/ Mass Celebrations, Coronation Celebrations, Eid and Masaza Cup for 3 years (2020-2022).

The announcement was made at a press conference held on Thursday at the Buganda Kingdom offices in Mengo graced by Buganda Kingdom officials led by the Katikkiro Owek.

Charles Peter Mayiga and Airtel-Uganda officials led by V.G. Somasekhar, the Company’s Managing Director. Somasekhar thanked the Buganda Kingdom for once again giving Airtel an opportunity to take part in their activities for another three years.

“It is an honor for us to once again renew our longstanding partnership with this prestigious and credible kingdom – a partnership that has seen us change lives of Ugandans in the fields of health, sports and communication. On behalf of Airtel-Uganda, I would like to pledge our future commitment and support to the Buganda Kingdom, its people and its activities, as we unite to maintain the good glory of this Kingdom,” he noted.

The Katikkiro appreciated Airtel Uganda for their commitment to the people of Uganda by continuing to sponsor activities such as the Kabaka Run that have shade light onto community health concerns such as fistula, Sickle Cell Disease and now AIDS.

“Strategic partnerships are the bedrock of development and the partnership that we have enjoyed with Airtel over the years. This has born fruits not only for Airtel and the Kingdom, but also for Ugandans at large. For this we are proud. Together with Airtel Uganda and our other partners, we have pointed our focus onto AIDS and we believe that we can achieve this goal and see change happen in our country,” he said.
