Lango vs Bukedi – Akii Bua Stadium, Lira (4pm)
The second semi-final of the 2019 FUFA Drum tournament is on this Sunday at the new Akii Bua Stadium in Lira. Hosts Lango will square off with Bukedi in a crunch encounter to determine who faces Acholi in Tuesday’s final.
Lango is a wounded lion having lost 3-1 to West Nile in the last fixture whilst Bukedi drew one-all against Acholi during their last game at Pece War Memorial Stadium, Gulu. Lango will look towards the magic of midfielder Bronson Nsubuga, voted twice Man of the match (against Busoga and Bugisu), Emmanuel Odur and Emmanuel Obua.
Musa Ramathan, Pate Wanok and goalkeeper Franco Oringa are the other players for inspiration. On the other hand, Bukedi are spolit for choice between their on-colour goalkeepers Derrick Emukule and Patrick Wafula.
Captain Fredson Gwoto, Cosia Waiswa, Ibra Nsimbe, Iddi Babu, Isaac Kisujju are the other too spur the side. As the home team, Lango will also bank on the 12th man in the stands to rally behind them for entire duration of the game.
The final shall be played on Tuesday, 10th December 2019 with the winner taking Shs32m cash prize and trophy while the losing finalist will pocket Shs15m. Each of the losing quarter finalists takes Shs5m, the third and fourth in group provinces shall part with Shs 1.5m and Shs1m respectively.
Individual prize monies wil see the Most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament bag Shs1m, top scorer (Shs 1M), best goalkeeper (Shs1m) and Shs1m for each player on the tournament best XI. The second edition of the FUFA Drum tournament is played under the theme: “Celebrating Our Ancestry” and proudly sponsored by Eagle Poa beer, Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and National Insurance Corporation (NIC).
It was started by FUFA in 2018 to celebrate Ancestry, rally patriotism, promote sports tourism and unearth new raw talents across the country.
