Burundi 1-2 Djibouti
Eritrea 0-2 Uganda
Uganda Cranes stormed the semi finals of the 2019 Cecafa senior challenge Cup after beating Eritrea 2-0 at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.
It was Uganda’s third victory at the 2019 tournament having beaten Burundi and Djibouti respectively.
Having scored his first game at KCCA against Proline in the first round premier league fixture, Nicholas Kasozi also scored his first for Uganda Cranes in the 58th minute after goal keeper Kibrom Solomun fumbled with a long range shot.
Mustafa Kizza got the second for the Cranes from the spot; sending Kibrom the wrong way with 10 minutes to play after Eritrean defender was ruled to have handled the ball in the area to block Mustafa’s free kick.
Goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa was called to action twice to stop Robel Kidane and Captain Robel Teklemichael. Mckinstry made seven changes from the team that beat Djibouti and the Cranes struggled against a confident Eritrea.
Despite starting the three games, Ben Ocen has failed to deliver to fans’ expectations. Uganda returns to action against Djibouti on Sunday while Eritrea face Djibouti on Friday before facing Somalia on Sunday.
