Peace stuck with 700Kgs donated sports equipment

Peace with the equipment

She Cranes skipper Peace Proscovia has successfully collected over 700Kgs of high-quality sports equipment in donations for the underprivileged netball players in the country.

The goal shooter, who turns out for Sunshine Coast Lightning in Australia, embarked on the noble cause earlier this year in conjunction with the University of Sunshine Coast High-Performance Sport. Proscovia was motivated by the tough conditions she faced in her tender years –the reason she collected equipment that includes shoes and other apparel which she believes will help change lives.

“This sporting equipment will change lives. It will provide hope to these children and make them see the world in a brighter way. The people in Uganda cannot afford even basic sports shoes and clothes and this will help them play sport, become healthier and lead better lives,” Peace was quoted by the club.

Together with the Sunshine Coast Council, Proscovia has been able to raise more than 80 percent of the US$ 7,000 (Ugx 25M) freight cost from Australia to Uganda but still needs more financial assistance.

“With assistance from the Sunshine Coast Council, the freight cost has now been reduced from $7,000 to $5,500. The GoFundMe page has already raised $3,850 as at 26 November 2019 – meaning there is only $1,650 remaining to reach the target!” council announced before pleading for more help.

“USC High-Performance Sport, on behalf of Peace, have started a GoFundMe campaign, with donations of any size welcomed.” The equipment is expected to arrive in the country early next year if the remaining balance is realised.
