Fahad Bayo’s 88th-minute goal sent Uganda to 2019 Cecafa Senior challenge Cup final after a 1-0 win at resilient Tanzania on Tuesday at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.
Following After a goalless first half draw, the Vipers SC forward netted in the 86th minutes; heading home Mustafa Kizza cross from the left and the only goal of the match was soon followed by a downpour.
Cranes Head Coach Jonathan McKinstry, who made some changes from the team that beat Djibouti 4-1 in the last group game, had earlier tagged Tanzania as a boggy side going into the fixture.
Uganda, who seek a record 15th title, will play Eritrea in the final due this Thursday at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.
Eritrea are on the Cecafa final for the first time having shocked defending champions Kenya (2017) with 4-1 win in the other semi-final earlier played at the same venue.
Uganda last won the title in 2015 where it beat Rwanda 1-0 in the final in Ethiopia. The championship was not held last year.
