Uganda defeated Tanzania 2-0 at the FUFA technical center, Njeru to lift the inaugural Cecafa U17 Girls tournament.
This was the last game of the day as Uganda finished top of the six-nation championship played on the round robin format with 13 points.
Skipper and newly crowned 2019 Airtel-FUFA player of the year Juliet Nalukenge and tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) Fauzia Najjemba netted the goals for the Ayub Kalifah side that won the tournament with 28 goals scored and only one goal conceded.
Uganda conceded the only goal in the one-all draw against Tanzania on Sunday. This is the second trophy for the side after lifting the inaugural COSAFA U17 championship from South Africa in September as a guest team.
It was sweet way celebration for Nalukenge and Coach Ayub Khalifah after being crowned the best female player and best women coach of the year 2019.
Ayub made only two changes from the side that was held by Tanzania with Gillian Akadinda replacing Samalie Nakacwa on the right full back while Uganda Martyrs winger Catherine Nagadya was replaced by Kawempe Muslim striker Hadijah Nandago.
Uganda opened the tournament with a 4-0 win over Burundi before thrashing Djibouti 11-0. The hosts beat Eritrea 10-0 and drew 1-1 with eventual runners up Tanzania before ending the campaign on the high with the 2-0 win over Kenya.
Tanzania and Kenya were the first and second runners up while Burundi, Eritrea and Djibouti followed respectively.
