The Gunners and Manchester City will finalise a compensation package – believed to be in the region of £1million – to release Arteta from his contract with the Premier League champions on Thursday.
The move to install Arteta as Arsenal’s new manager was effectively completed on Wednesday after the former Gunners midfielder officially informed City of his wish to embark on a management career.
Arsenal are also working on the make-up of Arteta’s backroom team, with a widely held viewed that he will need experienced coaches around given his lack of experience.
Rodolfo Borrell, who is also currently at City, and Domenec Torrent – who has worked with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and the Etihad Stadium – are two coaches mooted.
