Vipers SC have unveiled midfielder Pal Mucureezi as their first 20202 signing on a three-year deal from Mbarara City.

The 27 year old joined as a free transfer after his contract at Mbarara City ended last month. Mucureezi will wear jersey number 14 which had previously been used by Kenyan import Innocent Wafula in the first round of 2019/20.

Mucureezi will thus become the fourth player to take on the number, after Julius Mulindwa, Nicholas Wadada and Innocent Wafula whose future in balance hangs in balance. Mucureezi, formerly at KCCA FC is likely to make is debut next Friday when the three-time champions host Kyetume at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

Mucureezi is much loved for his mobility, creativity and quick decision making especially on the counter attacks. “He is one of the best wingers in the StarTimes Uganda premier league with good work ethic, talent and mentality. He is the type of player we were looking for to help us improve and I am delighted that he has signed with us,” noted Edward Golola, the Venoms Head coach.

The Uganda international was equally thrilled to be joining the table leaders. “I have enjoyed my time at Mbarara City and I have learned a lot. I am looking forward to another journey with Vipers to help it win trophies,” noted the former Mutundwe Lions player. Vipers resumed training on December 27 and Golola has already notified players how it is important to lay the strategy early enough ahead of the second round. It is a season defining period and if you do not handle it well, you end up failing on your targets,” noted Golola whose side only lost one first round game to lead the 2019/20 league table with 36 points, four above second placed and reigning champions KCCA FC.
