URA 2-0 SC Villa

Daniel Isiagi and substitute Michael Birungi scored in opening and closing half respectively as Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Football Club kicked off the 2019/20 StarTimes Uganda Premier League with a comfortable 2-0 home win at SC Villa in Ndejje at the Arena of Vision ground.

Both players grabbed their first goal for the four-time champions after joing this term. Isiagi headed past goalkeeper Saidi Keni in the second minute from skipper Shafiq Kagimu cross on the left as URA dominated the opening half hour of the game.

Birungi, who replaced Mikidad Ssenyonga wrapped up the scoring with a tap-in in the 64th minute following Joackiam Ojera’s decent cross. URA still dominated proceedings in the opening time of the second half as SC Villa struggled to get numbers in the Tax Collectors’ final third.

Nyakojo voted Man of the match

With a 4-4-2 formation, Sam Ssimbwa made is rich midfield the first line of defense as they pressed hard at high line without possession which caused discomfort of outnumbered Jogoos’ midfield in a 4-2-1-3-1 (4-3-3) situational formation. Edward Kaziba only had four substitutes on the bench due to absence of some players’ licenses.

URA Defender Benjamin Nyakoojo was named the Pilsner Man of the match for the overall command at the back, earning a plaque and cash reward Shs100,000.

This was URA’s 5th victory of the season which leaves them to 6th on the 16 team log on 23 points. SC Villa suffered their third loss of the season as they remain in fourth with 27 points. The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in the first round at Luzira.
