City Oilers 63-57 UCU Canons
(Oilers lead series 3-1)
City Oilers are just a game away from clinching the record 7th national basketball league title after their 63-57 win over UCU Canons on Friday at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.
Oilers are joint six championships with Falcons and are gunned to win their straight 7th title as the lead the best of seven final series 3-1.
UCU Canons, who face City Oilers for the first time in the final since 2015, won game one 67-59 in November but Nicholas Natuhereza’s charges have never looked the same since.
Oilers came into the Friday game on the back of a failed Basketball Africa League attempt but led 30-21 at halftime.
Jimmy Enabu (23) and James Okello (20) were the only Oilers’ players to score in double figures while Landry Ndikumana added 12 rebounds.
David Dikong shot 7-for-12 from the field to garner 16 points, Fadhil Chuma and Fayed Baale notched 11 and 10 points respectively for the Mukono University side. The sides face off on Wednesday with Oilers just a win away from seventh crowning.
