After overseeing the first leg of the Cricket World Cup Challenge League B in last December, Uganda cricket association (UCU) saw it right to renew head coach Steven Tikolo’s contract after the team won all their games in Oman.
However, the coach who had a disappointing Africa T20 campaign on home turf last May will not renew his contract and will leave the role after the expiry of his contract.

“Stephen Tikolo has chosen not to renew his contract with Uganda Cricket Association. His contract was due for renewal and negotiations have been ongoing with Steve to stay with us but he has made a personal decision not to extend his stay with us despite our interest to continue with the relationship,” a statement from UCA confirmed on Wednesday.
Tikolo has been in charge of Cricket Cranes for three and a half years having joined the national side in 2016.
The team will be handled by former Cricket Cranes and U19 coach Davis Turinawe as the process of hiring a new coach goes on before the end of February 2020.
