Okello joins Paradou as Kizza deal falls through

Allan Okello has left KCCA FC

Allan Okello has finalised his move from KCCA FC to Algeria top tier side Paradou FC after signing a 4-year deal on Tuesday. The 2019 Airtel-FUFA player of the year’s contract takes immediate effect.

Paradou is the side that knocked KCCA FC out of the 2019/2020 CAF confederation Cup 4-1 on aggregate at the pre-group stage. Okello joined KCCA Soccer Academy in 2015 and he played in the FUFA Juniors League for two years. He rose through the ranks and later made his debut for KCCA FC senior team on 27th February 2017 at 16 years old.

The left-footed player bagged a hat trick on his debut against Onduparaka FC in a game that ended 7-0 in favor of KCCA FC. Okello later played in the CAF Confederation Cup at 16 years together with another youngster and friend Julius Poloto.

The 19-year-old has played 112 games for KCCA FC and scored a total of 39 goals in three years. Okello’s contract with AC Paradou has a sell-on clause whereby in case of a potential future transfer of the player to another club, KCCA FC will retain 20% of the transfer fee.

At the time of his departure, Okello was the club’s top scorer in the Uganda Premier League with six goals in the 10 games he played in the first round of the 2019/2020 season.

“We had many offers but we considered the player’s progress in his career. Many clubs at the continent and Europe tabled better offers but as a club, we wanted to see progress for the player. Paradou has one of the best academy structures that can develop a player and also has connections in Europe,” noted Moses Magero, the KCCA FC head of communications.

Meanwhile Fullback Mustafa Kizza’s deal at Moroccan topflight side Hassania Agadir fell through and will stay at the 13-record champions till the end of the season.

KCCA is said to have bagged $200,000 from the Okello deal. Kizza took a while to cement his place since his arrival but he has had assists and important goals since his debut. The two have inspired KCCA to two league titles (2017 and 2019), two back to back Uganda Cup titles (2017 and 2018) and the CECAFA Kagame Cup (2019).

Both Okello and Kizza contracts at KCCA run till January next year. Okello is a void left in the Cranes 2020 CHAN team CHAN tournament squad in Cameroon.
