Wakiso Giants completed the signing of Onduparaka’s central midfielder Ibrahim Faizul Anini on a three year contract as the player reunites with his former coach at the Caterpillars Livingstone Mbabazi.
Anini became the third player to cross over to the Purple Sharks from Onduparaka this season after former side’s captain Gadaffi Wahab and right back Atendere Geriga. Just like Wahab, Anini was one of the longest serving players at Onduparaka –having helped the West Nile side earn promotion to the StarTimes Uganda premier league in 2016.
His only league goal for the Caterpillars came against Wakiso Giants in a 1-0 win at the Green light stadium, Arua earlier this season. “I am happy to be at Wakiso Giants and to reunite with one of the best coaches in the country. I look forward to achieve the club and my personal goals. I know it will not come easy but I am ready for the challenge,” noted Anini who could not make his debut as Wakiso Giants played to a barren draw away at BUL FC on Wednesday in one of the three Premier league games of the day.
It was BUL FC’s first point of second round. Both sides missed penalties; with Wakiso Giants’ top scorer Viane Sekajugo’s kick 19 minutes into the game saved by goal keeper Abdul Kimera before Hamis Tibita’s spot kick was also saved by Derrick Emukule.
The draw left BUL 5th on the log with 30 points from 19 games while the Purple Sharks are 8th with 24 points from as many games.
