The third edition of Makerere University business school (MUBS) annual alumni run is scheduled for February 16 in Nakawa with the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanya expected to be a chief runner.
The 2019 run was launched on Wednesday at MUBS, Nakawa by the university deputy principle Moses Muhwezi alongside Herbert Bashasha –the marketing manager Mandela Group and David Katumwa –the proprietor of Katumwa sports center who are the sponsors of the run. According to Muhwezi, the run intends to collect funds to support girl child especially those with disabilities.
“It is a deliberate cause by the government to educate the girl child and as MUBS we want to support the cause. We receive over 50 requests for financial assistant but if we can assist about 10 every year, we shall be very grateful. We call upon the alumni to come and take part as well as well wishers so that we can cause change in the society,” noted Muhwezi.
The Run will be under the theme: “Enable women with disability get university education” and the runners with cover a distance of 5km and 10kms, according to Uganda athletics federation. Mandela millers under Supreme flour flagship brand are the main sponsored and have offered attires as well as trophies for the different winners while Katumwa sports center has also supplemented on the sponsorship.
