Due to growing number of COVID-19 cases in Uganda and the World, Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA) is forced to revise and postpone the dates for the 2020 which will be held for the 6th time.
According to Shafick Kigongo the Chief Executive officer of the Association (UYFA) said in an interview with www.sportsoceanug.com that the postponement will be done for the good of the game.
“We are going to look at the perturbed School’s calendar because we always want to rotate our activities during School holidays by the Minister of Education” Started Shafick Kigongo.
“Since all activities are at halt, we shall revise our framework for the good of the game” Added Kigongo.
According to the organizing committee , the 6th edition (2020) is set to be hosted by Eastern region and preferably Mbale or Tororo will be the hosting District.
” Earlier on, Four people were appointed by the organizing committee to go and inspect Tororo on Thursday last week but due to the Presidential and MOH directives they were unable to move” Added Mr. Kigongo.
2020 UYFA regional qualifiers were scheduled to kick off on 25th, this month (April) and climax on the last day of August (31st, August) while National Championship Finals from 8th to 12th, September.

The championship, UYFA National which is six years now has seen many young players featured, identified and nurtured into National players.
Allan Okello (Destiny Soccer Academy, Lira), Mustafa Kiiza and Filbert Obenchan (Kampala Junior Team), Bright Anukani ( Makindye Soccer Academy), Nordin Bunjo (Sparta 09) Franka Zaga Tumwesigye (Nsambya Young Stars) are some of the players.
Most of the U15 Uganda National team players who crowned the 2019 CECAFA Championship in Eritrea were selected from the UYFA National Championship.
Half of U17 Uganda National team which won the CECAFA were all selected from the championship.
