Uganda U17 Women National team head coach Ayubu Khalifa comments on the postponement of the 2020 FIFA U17 Women World cup qualifiers due to the Corona Virus pandemic.
The final qualification matches, due to end in May, “will not take place. New dates are yet to be announced.
Ayubu Khalifa was aiming for an historical of making Ugandan Football qualify to a World cup finals with the U17 in the final qualification stage.
The postponement of the FIFA U17 Women World cup was announced in a statement released on Saturday 4th, April.
“I don’t know when they will reschedule but if we move on the same rules and qualification calendar 2020” Stated Ayubu Khalifa.
“Our worry is that is they postpone it to another year it means many of our players will be ruled out because this is their final U17 championship” Added Ayubu.
“On the advantageous side if it’s forwarded it will help us as we have over Ten players who are in Candidate class and according to the early schedules the World cup will be played in November which is a final examination period in Uganda” Highlights Ayubu.
“Being an a pandemic period tgat people are not allowed to move, Women Football God Father (Ayubu Khalifa advised Gilrs and other sports people to keep training individually.”
“Girls and other Sports people should workd hard however small the compound is.
” My worry about the Girls will be on the technical knowledge as many have no Balls and in that i expect some of them to come back when they have lost Ball control. They have to work on their strength” Added Ayubu
The other international Women tournament affected is the FIFA U20 world cup finals which were scheduled between August and September 2020 in Panama and Costa Rica
The 2020 FIFA U17 Women World cup finals will be hosted by India and Africa will be represented by the three best Countries.
Uganda eliminated Tanzania by 6-2 on aggregate to reach the final qualification stages.
