Uganda Cranes right-back Nicholas Wadada has been named the Tanzania Premier League best defender of the 2019/2020 season.
This was during the league’s award dinner held on Friday night at Mlimani City Hall.
Wadada who managed one goal and eight assists in the season plays for Azam FC, who finished third in the just ended season.
Wadada who also featured on the best XI of the season was up against David Luhende (Kagera Sugar) and Bakari Mwamnyeto (Coastal Union, joining Yanga shortly) for the best defender gong.
Wadada was also nominated for the player of the season award but instead it was Zambia and Simba SC star Clautos Chama who claimed it. Chama managed two goals and 10 assists in the season.
Chama also won the best midfielder of the season award as his (Simba’s) coach Sven Vandenbroeck scooped the best coach award.
League Champions Simba dominated the night as they had six players on the best XI of the season.
