After getting relegated from the Uganda Premier League in the recent season that ended prematurely due to COVID-19, Tooro United are seeking for a better display in the FUFA Big League this coming season so as to bounce back to the top tier league within a short stint, possibly in a period of one year.
The Fort Portal Tourism City based side on Wednesday unveiled new coaches that will guide the team back to the top.
The event was held at Tavern Woods Restaurant in Kabuusu, Kampala.
Former Vipers SC gaffer Edward Golola was named head coach for an anonymous period of time.
“We are aware that this is a challenging job but we shall work together as a team. I am a winning coach and the recruitment exercise started immediately to beef up the team. We are ready for the job as we seek to revamp the team,” Golola said after thanking the management for trusting him with the job.
Golola’s dugout will have Simon Ddungu as the first assistant. Moses Oloya is the goalkeeping coach and Jamada Magaasi is the fitness coach while Fred Kasendeke is the junior team head coach.
Club president Alice Namatovu expressed her confidence in the new coaching team and believed that they will revamp the team.
“We have a lot of confidence in Edward Golola and his team. We want to assure them that we shall give them all the confidence and necessary support,” Namatovu noted before thanking the fans who have always been there for the team.
Club Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Epieru and new board member Hon. Alex Ruhunda (Fort Portal City MP aspirant) were also available at the event and pledged support towards the team.
