After joining Uganda Premier League side Express FC recently (Wednesday this week), Uganda Hippos (U-20 national football team) goalkeeper Denis Otim has hinted on some aspects of the game that he will prioritize once he is called upon to feature in between the sticks.
Otim who hopes to lay a blue print to his career following his move from Western Regional League outfit Mbarara City FC on a four year deal has picked out self belief and communication with the back line as the two instruments to guide him on match days.
“Firstly I have to believe in myself and my fellow players but also I will ensure I have good communication with my backline inorder to be organized at the back” Otim told the club website.
Otim also releashed on his 2019 CECAFA U20 tournament experience where he helped the Hippos to a quarterfinal finish. The tournament was one of the player’s biggest outings and will surely draw inspiration from it until he lands on another tourney of such a kind.
“Any player would want to play for the national team so to do it with the U20 squad was special, it’s an experience I’ll never forget” Otim added.
Otim will have tight competition from fellow second choice goalkeeper Cryspus Kusiima. However, Matthias Muwanga is number one choice and it will take extra effort from the above duo to earn his spot.
