Miracle Eaglets new Signing Faith Phoebe Apio has admitted that Gazelles (Uganda women’s national basketball team) guard Flavia Oketcho alias Flirsh is her role model.

During an exclusive interview with the club’s YouTube Channel, Apio, a Kyambogo University student revealed that Oketcho, who won last year’s women’s national championship with JKL Lady Dolphins is someone she looks up to when it comes to the hoops game.

“I look up to Flirsh,” the former Nabisunsa Girls’ School guard admitted.

“She knows what she is doing and when I look at her play I am like; “yeah, that’s the real definition of basketball,'” Apio noted as she heaped more praise on Oketcho who is one of the most decorated female basketball players in the country.

She also revealed her love for JKL Lady Dolphins who have dominated the women’s top tier division for the past two seasons and could continue with the onslaught by winning their third straight championship this coming season.

However, she also assured the Miracle Eaglets fans that her and the rest of the team will deliver a lot when play tips off.

“The fans should expect everything we are working for. We are going to bring hard work and effort. We are going to persevere and make sure that we are not stopped by anything,” Apio said.

Eaglets, a women’s Division 1 outfit will be seeking a great display next season as they seek to climb the ladder to the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL).
