Uganda Premier League side Mbarara City FC have unveiled former SC Villa striker Bashir Mutunda ahead of the 2020/2021 football season anticipated to kickoff on October 17 this year.
Mutunda, who has been a free agent since his Villa contract expired at the end of the previous season joins Mbarara City on a one year deal.
Mbarara City are attempting to replace Brian Aheebwa who recently joined KCCA FC on a three year deal. Mutunda will have no option but to fill that void.
Mutunda is Mbarara’s fourth signing in this transfer window following earlier arrivals of former Light SA FC duo of Ronald Edwok and Godfrey Kalungi and defender Karim Ramathan.
Mutanda’s two seasons at Villa were mixed having scored 13 goals in the 2018/19 season as he led the club’s goalscoring charts. However, in the 2019/20 season, he only managed a single goal having featured for a few games due to injuries.
