Ugandan middle distance runner Winnie Nanyondo finished fifth in the women’s 800m heat in the final Diamond League event held on Friday
night in Doha.
Nanyondo managed a race time of 2:00.49, which was her season’s best.
Nanyondo was in pursuit for her second ever win on the Diamond League circuit having triumphed still in Doha last year.
However, Kenyan star Faith Kipyegon dominated the heat and emerged number one with a winning time of 1:57.68, a world lead.
The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising 15 of the best invitational athletics meetings. The series sits in the top tier of the World Athletics (formerly known as the IAAF) one-day meeting competitions.
