Heathens RFC fullback Joseph Oyet believes that he is the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2020/21 Rugby Premier League season that was prematurely ended a few days ago.
Oyet’s side Heathens were crowned league winners off 63 points, five ahead of second placed Kobs, but with five games unplayed. With his side retaining the title, Oyet believes that the MVP crown is surely his.
“I am the league MVP,” Oyet, the Heathens number 15 told this reporter in a phone interview saying that; “I had a very good season and I believe I was the best player in the league.”
The league MVP will be named on the day Heathens will be awarded the title. The coronation date hasn’t been communicated yet.
Dubbed ‘Ojo,’ Oyet finished the season as joint top converter with 14 conversions in the league, alongside team mate and flyhalf Aaron Oforywoth.
When Oforywoth was away on national duty, Oyet stepped up to the tee and he never disappointed. He became a frequent kicker for the side.
Oyet also finished the season as joint third try scorer after crossing the white wash eight times.
Oyet has been credited for his ability to win games for the side even when big names like Micheal Wokorach, Aaron Ofoyrwoth were out on national duty.
Pundits also claim that winning the league this season is a good reward for Oyet’s individual and team success and an MVP gong will be an icing on the cake.
