Kitara FC 7(0) – 6(0) Kataka
Kiboga Young 3 – 1 Ndejje University
Kitara FC and Kiboga Young have qualified for the finals of the FUFA Big League playoffs after emerging victorious in the semifinals held this Monday at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
The pair will squareoff in the finals slated for Wednesday at the same venue, in a game which determines the final 16th team to join the top tier league (Uganda Premier League).
In the first semifinal of the day, Hoima-based Kitara beat Mbale’s Kataka 7-6 on penalties after a barren stalemate at full-time.
Philip Ssempira, Simon Adibo, Patrick Mugume, Musa Doka, Denis Mande, Maxwell Owagichu and Daniel Patrick Ekoyu scored Kitara’s penalties but Peter Lumoro missed his kick.
Kitara goalkeeper Jamil Kiyemba however ‘stole the show’ when he saved two penalties from Yusuf Ezama and Peter Lusimbula.
In the other semifinal, Kiboga Young beat Ndejje University 3-1 to qualify for the final hurdle to the top tier league.
Sula Tumusiime gave Ndejje an a first half lead when he slotted home on the spot in the 35th minute.
However, Kiboga Young responded thrice in the second half thanks to goals from Jamaldine Buchochera (52), Brian Olega (58) and Sula Wambede (8).
The two successful teams will remain in the bubble until business is finished on Wednesday.
However, Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) and Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) already qualified for the top tier league after finishing among the top two in the Big League regular season.
