Event: FUFA Big League Playoffs – Finals
Date: Wednesday, 21st October 2020
Venue: FUFA Technical Center, Njeru
Kitara FC and Kiboga Young will face off this Wednesday, 21st October 2020 in the final of the FUFA Big League Playoffs at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru. The winner of this match will qualify for the Uganda Premier League (UPL) 2020/21 season.
To reach the final, Kitara beat Kataka FC 7-6 on penalties during the Monday semifinal. In the other match, Kiboga Young recovered from one goal down to beat Ndejje University 3-1.
With the only remaining (16th) UPL slot now in sight, both teams are buoyed to grasp this chance and make it to the top tier league.
Maxwell Owachgiu – Captain Kitara FC believes that they are the side to beat this Wednesday.
“In the semifinal we wanted to win during normal time but not penalties but still we are happy to be in the final. This time round we want to win the game early enough, we are very capable of doing it and I believe we are the team to beat,” Owachgiu who converted on the spot during the Monday shootout told FUFA media.
However, Kiboga Young’s Jamaldine Buchochera who scored his side’s equalizer last time out believes that his side will come good in this final hurdle to the top tier league.
“It is a very big game for everyone involved so it will be intense. But I believe we shall win it if we execute our work plan,” Buchochera said.
“This is the biggest game of the season for both teams and it will be a now-or-never scenario. We intend to attack our opponents and possibly score more goals once again,” Buchochera said.
The two teams are currently in a bubble until business is finished on Wednesday.
However, Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) and Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) already qualified for the top tier league after finishing among the top two in the Big League regular season.
